Despite retaining only six of his whooping 19 cabinet team, President Uhuru Kenyatta could yet again spare two more Cabinet Secretaries, a Jubilee lawyer who spoke in confidence has confirmed.
At the naming of is partial cabinet on Friday, Uhuru retained Fred Matiang'i, James Macharia, Najib Balala, Henry Rotich, Charles Keter and Joe Mucheru.
"In the coming weeks, I will name other men and women who I believe will serve the country without discrimination," said Uhuru.
But the omission of Foreign Affair's Amina Mohammed and Public Service's Cecily Kariuki along with Eugene Wamalwa and Mwangi Kiunjuri caught many by surprise.
And the source says Amina and Kariuki could after all be retained by Uhuru over their 'extraordinary' contributions to the country.
"It does not mean that he has tamed the rest. I expect Amina and Kariuki ti be retained once naming is complete."
Interestingly, a source close to DP William Ruto, who conspicuously skipped the State House event, says Ruto and Uhuru are at loggerheads on who should make it to cabinet.
However, David Mugonyi, a spokesperson to the DP, has since dismissed any discomfort between the two leaders.
