Kisii University Vice Chancellor Prof John Akama is in 'deep stress' after the Ministry of Education failed to renew his contract, a source has said.
Last week, Akama was among several university bosses who had their plea turned down over what pundits say is incompetence in their institutions.
And according to the source, Akama bitter over the move on grounds that he stood with government at the time of need.
"I have spoken to him and he is a bit stressed. He is bitter with the system because he was part of the team that spearheaded Jubilee agenda.
"Of course he will not protest but he understands it would be difficult now to defend his job," said the source.
Efforts to reach the embattled Vice Chancellor did not bore fruits since he could not respond to calls.
Throughout President Uhuru Kenyatta's campaigns, Akama is believed to have been the brain child behind significant improvement in Gusii.
