The nullification of President Uhuru Kenyatta’s win has made him learn several lessons. Uhuru is not ready to take chances as he faces his arch rival Raila Amolo Odinga, National Super Alliance (NASA) Presidential candidate. Uhuru has adopted different political strategies that will ensure he retains power after October 17 election.

To start with, Uhuru has adopted Raila’s strategy of safeguarding votes. The opposition leader wanted to set up parallel tallying stations across the nation in order to protect his votes. This time round, Uhuru has also decided to guard his votes although he is yet to talk about a parallel tallying center. The head of state also feels vulnerable for vote rigging.

Secondly, Uhuru will be raiding NASA strongholds.  This week Uhuru’s allies pitched tents in Machakos County, which is considered opposition’s stronghold considering the last general elections outcome. Despite facing hostility from the residents, Uhuru’s allies outlined reasons why he deserves another term in office.

Thirdly, Uhuru is targeting election losers to attract the aggrieved supporters. The Jubilee side is relying on its financial power to woo the leaders who lost during nominations.

According to political analyst Martin Andati, Jubilee is sorted when it comes to funds.

"Unlike Jubilee, NASA is not in government, they face financial challenges and that's why they are fundraising," he said, as quoted by Star.
