For months now, politicians allied to President Uhuru Kenyatta and his DP William Ruto have openly clashed over the fight against graft and measures being taken.

At Citizen TV on Sunday, Murkomen admitted publicly that Uhuru's decision to root for lifestyle audit caught his deputy unaware.

"Unfortunately, because those fighting him have responsibility over policy of the government, we have situations where things like lifestyle audit are now in place without the knowledge of some of us.

"The lifestyle audit is about 2022 politics, it is a principal called licking-the -ladder symptom as there are people who want to ascend to power and prevent others," he said.

According to the second term legislator, Ruto first learnt about the lifestyle audit in Mombasa when the president first spoke about it.

Further, he says, operatives within OP may have used Machakos governor Alfred Mutua to communicate the decision in a clear plot targeting the DP.

"It was a declaration by Governor Mutua, picked by the president few days later," he said adding that the audit is meant to injure Ruto's 2022 bid.
