Majority of NASA leaders prefer Mombasa County to host unique inauguration of Raila Odinga as People's President, says a senior ODM lawyer who spoke in confidence.

During their first briefing on the function, secretariat through Noah Akala remained non committal over the venue adding that it will be unveiled on Sunday.

"We have put everything in place and the venue shall be unveiled on Sunday during our media briefing," he said.

Mombasa County, the lawyer says, was the first to approve the request by NASA secretariat of the 13 counties that had received similar application.

But the its relative peace, loyalty to the coalition and historical segregation makes it ideal to host the function.

"So far they feel the region has been loyal to NASA and it enjoys relative peace. Above all, it is home to many communities that is why many are of the opinion to have it hosting the event."

Although it remains tentatively the venue, he says, other options such as Kakamega, Nairobi and Busia are being explored.

Conspicuously, Kisumu was ruled out on grounds that it would make the event appear 'a Luo affair' thus fail to send a proper message to the world on the seriousness of the event.

When asked to clarify the venue, secretariat member Oduor Ongwen could neither deny or admit but insisted Mombasa is within Kenyan territory.

"We said that the venue shall be made public on Sunday. Whether it is Mombasa or elsewhere, it will be within Kenya," he responded to a question on ODM WhatsApp Group.
