National Super Alliance (NASA) under the leadership of Former Prime Minister Raila Amolo Odinga and his running mate Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka will have to battle it out with Jubilee Party for heads in parliament.
NASA is likely to be preparing for another humiliation in both the National Assembly and Senate.
The two political outfits will be fighting over several seats including speakers, deputy speakers, majority leaders as well as majority whips.
The numerical strength of the opposition is likely to make it a disadvantage during the contest for the posts.
Jubilee under the leadership of President Uhuru Kenyatta stands a better chance of clinching most of the seats after bagging most parliamentary post in the just concluded general elections. Jubilee and its friendly parties won 183 legislators of a total of 349 seats in Parliament.
In the senate, Jubilee won 26 compared to NASA’s 19. According to an MP who spoke on condition of anonymity, NASA will present candidates for all the posts.
“We will of course present candidates for all the competitive seats in the National Assembly and Senate. We will lobby for numbers and win some of the seats, we will not sit and watch,” said the lawmaker.
