Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has reminded Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko not to let down the residents of the region.
Speaking during Iftar dinner hosted on Wednesday evening at City Hall, Kalonzo advised Sonko to clean Nairobi before he loses his seat.
“If you get it right then nobody will dethrone you in 2022 but if you don’t then Nasa is coming for you in the next general election,” said Mr Musyoka.
On his part, Deputy President William Ruto assured Sonko of his support during his term in office. He said that the national government will back the county boss to ensure that he realizes his promises.
“We will stand by the county government led by Sonko to ensure that we have proper mechanisms of garbage collection, improve infrastructure and tackle perennial water problems,” said Mr Ruto.
The meeting of the three leaders come after the Nairobi County Assembly rejected Sonko’s nomination of lawyer Miguna Miguna. The MCAs passed that the deported lawyer cannot deputize Sonko following the resignation of Polycarp Igathe who cited irreconcilable differences with the county boss.
Sonko is yet to settle on another candidate who can assist him deliver his promises to residents of Nairobi during his first term in office.
