The National Super Alliance (NASA) has been attacking Jubilee for failing to feed Kenyans but the politicking in the saga has been unearthed.
The opposition flag bearer Raila Odinga has been the most vocal voice on the Mexican maize scandal but a deeper analysis of facts reveal that both Jubilee and NASA got something wrong.
The KTN Fact Check exposed Raila’s loopholes in what was supposed to be a campaign plus to opposition.
Raila Odinga lied about the pricing of the maize according to the news channel.
He said that Kenyan farmers demanded KSh3200 per a bag of maize from government. Kenya Farmers Association boss, Kipkorir Arap Menjo, who also has a top post in Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), confirmed that farmers wanted KSh3000.
This was honored after the Agriculture CS put it at KSh2800 but was later increased to KSh3000 by DP William Ruto. Farmers got what they wanted.
Secondly, Odinga mutilated facts when he stated that Mexican maize purchase was at KSh4600 per bag. According to the Agricultuere PS, Richard Lesiyampe, the government got the deal at KSh3600 from their Mexican traders.
This is subsidized then sold at KSh2300 to millers. The government aims at reducing the shortage that has affected the whole nation.
