The empty seats during the Jamhuri Day celebrations were the talk of the town.To many Kenyans, the attendance ranks as one of the worst, if not the worst, in the country's history.Organisers of the celebrations are now in trouble as President Uhuru wants clear answers on why the attendance was pathetic. The Jubilee team have accused the organising team led by Interior CS Karanja Kibicho of failing to properly mobilise Kenyans to attend the celebrations.Efforts to reach Mr. Kibicho by the media have hit a dead end as the PS is not answering calls.Nairobi governor, Mike Mbuvi Sonko, has pinned the blame on the provincial administration saying that it is responsible for organising and ensuring that state events are successful. The Jamhuri Day celebrations stood in stark contrast to the November 28 inauguration which had the stadium bursting at the seams with huge crowds.
Jubilee politicians have called for the punishment of the organisers for embarrassing the president.
Insiders in Uhuru's circle say that the president was not in the least amused by the numbers on Tuesday and wants a clear explanation.
