Directorate of Criminal Investigations Office (DCIO) has moved all officers attached to Kayole Division.

Details have emerged that the detectives were transferred after investigations showed that most of them could not crack in criminal cartels operating in the Nairobi's Eastlands.

Kayole is home to country's most notorious criminal gangs among them 42 Brothers, Hapa Hapana Tambua, Mungiki among others.

But the most deadliest of them all is Gaza, also known as Portmore Empire which has caused great horror to Nairobi residents.

According to a detective who spoke to The Standard, it was found that some of his colleagues had been in communication with Gaza members.

"Some mobile phones recovered from slain criminals showed frequent communication between a few officers and the gang members," he revealed.

Gaza is a violent criminal gang which usually target police officers in addition to robbing M-Pesa outlets and drug trafficking.

Another officer aware of the transfers said investigations linked some officers to another cartel which runs land matters in Kayole, Chokaa and Ruai.

"We have had increasing cases where people are conned by land sellers but no action is taken because some officers there are aware of the schemes," the detective told the local daily.

The transferred officers had until Tuesday to report in their new stations.
