Embakasi East MP Babu Owino now wants President Uhuru Kenyatta to chip in and have his election petition case dropped.
In February, Owino accused Uhuru of allegedly interfering with the case filed by his closest challenger Francis Mureithi.
"State House has worked hard to see my election nullified. I ant to tell Uhuru that I will beat him even if I ran against him," he said.
But since the unexpected handshake between Uhuru and opposition leader Raila Odinga, the ODM MP has dropped his criticism in the president and often taking on social media to praise him.
And in parliament on Wednesday, Uhuru scrambled for a handshake with the president and the two were seen having a light exchange.
"Babu Owino is a young man and he should be forgiven. I want senior legislators to defend him because he doesn't deserve to go for a by-election," said COTU boss Francis Atwoli in a statement that targets to rescue the youthful legislator.
On Facebook recently, Owino said he only recognised Uhuru as the President of the republic, Raila as people's president and himself as future president.
