Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission has postponed voting exercises in four counties across the country in the Thursday's fresh presidential elections.
The affected regions will now have to redo the exercise on Saturday 28 this month according to chairman Wafula Chebukati.
"IEBC has received briefing from all parts of the country and voting seems to be going on well in all regions," he said.
He further said:"However, we have received cases where our officers were unable to continue with the exercise due to insecurity reasons."
The affected counties include Kisumu. Siaya, Migori and Homabay where voting is said not to have taken place at all.
Chebukati invoked regulation 55 of IEBC Act which allows the commission to postpone elections in the regions experiencing difficulties.
Considered as NASA strongholds, the regions have boycotted elections following advise from opposition leader Raila Odinga who withdraw from the repeat polls.
Police have been engaging locals in running battles since poll opened even after Mr Odinga urged his supporters to stay away from polling stations.
IEBC officials are said to have feared for their security with some reportedly resigning at the last minute.
Also, the commission will consider adding more voting hours in regions where rains have affected the exercise
