According to Nakoru, the good working relationship and cooperation between police officers and residents has helped to end crime in the region.

"Crime which was rampant in Nyamira county especially livestock theft has dropped because of the good cooperation between the police officers and locals.

"Police will maintain the good working relationship with the locals to flush out criminals from the region,” he said.

Nakoru urged local youths to shun joining illegal gang groups in the county saying the law will not spare them.

“Youths should venture into small business and avoid peer groups which may lead them to commit crime.

"Local leaders should also ensure local youths who are graduates gets jobs to reduce the number of youths joining gang groups in the region,” he added.

He called on parents to step up efforts and report their children who engage in crime to police before they become dangerous criminals in the county.

Nakoru assured that police officers will intensify security patrols for the sake of ensuring locals are safe and their property.
