The Nairobi County administration has pinned the blame for the garbage mess on illegal dumping and county trucks that have broken down.
Mike Sonko's government has been grappling with accusations of allowing garbage in the city to pile uncollected, a situation that poses a huge health risk to the residents.
Suburbs have become dirty with garbage all over.
Nairobi County Assembly noted that the trucks that have mechanical issues are to blame for the fact that trash continues to lie in various parts of Nairobi.
''Unreliable fuelling systems, the breakdown of garbage trucks, and a lack of a timely and regular payment of contractors has led the county not collecting waste since August,'' John Kamau, the chairman of the environment committee said, according to a story by the Standard newspaper.
