Unidentified Jubilee supporter stabbed himself several times on stomach and chest on Thursday even as President Uhuru Kenyatta toured Gusii region.
The identity of the supporter was not immediately revealed since he did not have any national or personal identification matter at the time of the crime.
Witnesses say the middle aged man had been drumming support for Jubilee party until he learnt that Uhuru had diverted his motorcade from accessing CBD.
“I usually see him around and today he was carrying Jubilee materials around,” said Kevin Juma, a water vendor in Kisii town.
“He was not amused that Uhuru decided to skip town center and thus took a knife and did the unthinkable. He was violent and none could approach him,” added Gladys Mong’ina.
His lifeless body lied outside Naivas supermarket before it was collected by police and was later taken to Kisii Teaching and referral morgue.
“The only thing I am aware is that he cannot be identified because we have not found any identification document,” said Simon Kiragu, Kisii Police Commander.
During his trip, Uhuru toured both Kisii and Nyamira Counties amid protests in Kisii town as residents questioned his attitude towards Chief Justice David Maraga.
