The National Environment Management Authority (NEMA) has put coffee factories in Kisii and Nyamira counties over pollution concerns.NEMA says that the factories have been disposing of waste into rivers, a situation that may force the authority to close the errant factories.Tom Togo, Kisii County Environment Director, said that the coffee factories in the region have been warned.''The factories are obsolete and need to be upgraded to factor in waste management,'' he said according to the Daily Nation, a leading local newspaper.Mr. Togo hailed tea factories for heeding effluent management guideline.
