The Opposition coalition NASA has maintained that they will not participate in the upcoming repeat polls if their demands on electoral reforms are not met.
Speaking on Monday, a section of NASA leaders noted that the outfit will not be part and parcel of a predetermined process.
Led by Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya and MPs Sam Atandi (Alego Usonga) and Opiyo Wandayi (Ugunja) as well as former Machakos senator Johnstone Muthama, the leaders said that there was no need of campaigning for an election that they are not going to participate in.
“We will continue pushing for changes. We want the election to be free, fair, transparent, credible and verifiable. If our demands are not met, we will not participate,” Oparanya stated.
The leaders further dismissed Jubilee's charm offensive to perceived NASA strongholds, asserting that the move will not change anything.
“Jubilee’s current efforts are too little too late. In a free, fair and credible election, Jubilee stands no chance. Money has never been the key driver for positive change. We remain focused on our objective to reclaim the country from the shackles of reactionary forces,” Wandayi remarked.
Unlike NASA, Jubilee has hit the ground running, even as the elections date draw nigh.
