Despite serving in government for the last two years, deceased Interior Cabinet Secretary Joseph Nkaissery could after all be buried in opposition ODM flag, Raila Odinga has said.
Until his appointment to government in 2015, Nkaissery served as an opposition MP for a decade representing Kajiado Central people.
Interestingly, Odinga on Sunday while at a rally in Mtwapa claimed that Nkaissery had not resigned as an ODM member despite his appointment.
“Nkaissery died as an ODM member because he never resigned. As per the tradition of the party, we are going to bury him along with an ODM flag.
“He was a dedicated party member who always participated in major events. We always kept in touch even after his decision to leave,” he said.
Firebrand Kajiado Central MP Elijah Memusi replaced Nkaissery in a by election that saw the CS campaigning for a rival candidate.
Although his burial arrangements are uncderway, government pathologists are lined up to do an autopsy to ascertain the sudden cause of his death.
