The decision by opposition leader Raila Odinga to attend Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho’s inauguration speaks volumes about the outspoken politician’s political future.
Throughout this year, the Deputy ODM leader has been taking bullets for his boss and has often helped coordinate several political rallies on his behalf.
And in what is seen as confidence in his deputy and a key player in the ODM party, Odinga attended inauguration, the only one out of all NASA governors elected across the country.
“I have only come to Mombasa because of the good work this man has always done in my time as ODM leader. He is fearless and always ready to work without intimidation,” Odinga said.
He added: “Joho was elected by majority of Mambasa people on ballot and not through computer generated figures. He beat Jubilee hands down.”
To show the importance of Joho, Odinga had skipped inauguration of his close allies such as Anyang’ Nyong’o of Kisumu and Wycliffe Oparanya of Kakamega.
With him was NASA Chief Agent and former Vice President Musalia Mudavadi, who is tipped to take opposition mantle after Odinga.
