Continued attacks at Chief Justice David Maraga by President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto informed NASA’s decision to hold series of rallies in Gusii region.
Maraga, 66, who hails from Gusii region, chaired a team of six judges who, through majority vote, nullified Uhuru’s victory.
And in a move aimed at neutralizing Jubilee’s influence in Gusiiland, NASA leader traversed the region questioning Uhuru’s continued criticism on the judiciary.
“We did not embrace the antics by Jubilee of threatening judiciary officers. He wants to hide in politics to victimize them should he win in October,” says Borabu MP Ben Momanyi.
He adds:”It is now our noble duty to deny Jubilee ground in Kisii and that is why yesterday’s trip was important. We must protect independent institutions.”
At Kajiado, Uhuru denied claims that he was targeting to eject judicial officers who nullified his victory adding that he was only interested in critiquing the judgment.
Throughout his campaigns since the ruling, Uhuru has been quoted saying that he will ‘deal’ with the officers should he win.
