Despite pollsters showing a neck to neck competition between President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga, Odinga could still pull a major shock if all factors remain constant.
With both Ipsos Synovate and Infotrack putting Odinga in a steady lead in five crucial regions, it would be difficult for Uhuru to make a comeback given inroads made to his traditional strongholds of Rift Valley.
Political analyst Dismas Mokua says that the ability of ODM to venture into Rift Valley could play detrimental to Uhuru.
“I am seeing a scenario where Uhuru will lose marginally to Odinga. Statistics favours him and that is a pure fact that we have to agree.
“In Rift Valley, we are likely to see a scenario where people will vote against Jubilee due to persistent wrangles between DP William Ruto and a section of local leaders,” he adds.
Nyanza, Western, Coast, Nairobi and Eastern puts Odinga at pole position to win while Uhuru has a steady lead in Central and Rift Valley.
