President Uhuru Kenyatta’s decision to skip presidential debate and the high of living towards elections could work against his reelection chances.
For the first time in as many months, the country is grappling with high cost of living with the government struggling to control it.
And educationist Nyachieo Bogonko contends that Uhuru’s reelection could be difficult since he failed to explain to millions of TV and Radio viewers of his plans.
“He had a perfect opportunity to explain to Kenyans about the high cost of living and this will work against his plans.
“High cost of living could lead to protest votes even at his strongholds. This is one thing that people have to observe in few weeks time. I see a scenario where he will fail badly,” he said.
His main challenger Raila Odinga attended the presidential debate and when asked about his priority, he said that reducing the high cost of living would be the first in his diary.
The two political protagonists are set to meet for the second time in as many years after the highly contested 2013 elections.
