Taita-Taveta senator Dan Mwazo and Women Representative Joyce Lay, last week, left Raila Odinga's ODM, for president Uhuru Kenyatta's Jubilee party.
They joined the ruling party on the day Kenyatta visited Taita-Taveta County.
The president visited Bura, Mwatate, Voi and Taita-Taveta University.
The two lawmakers were strong ODM members, who stood behind party leader, Odinga, in both parliament, and in political rallies.
Speaking at a public rally in Voi, Lay said Coast residents had for long over historical injustices, saying the Opposition had done little to save them.
According to her, the Jubilee administration had started ensuring they get justice.
“Why should we continue with the narrative of historical injustices when we have a government willing to correct the situation and help us move forward?” Lay wondered.
Senator Mwazo had announced his move to Jubilee earlier at Bura. He said he wanted to join the party because interests of the Taita-Taveta residents lied in Jubilee.
He cited roads that had been built, including Voi-Mwatate, Mwatate-Taveta and Mwatate-Wundanyi.
Mwazo also urged the government to establish a dry port in Voi, implement the phase two of the Mzima Springs water project and construction of the county headquarters in Mwatate.
“Politics is not about parties, it is not about clan. Politics is about interests,” he said.
The lawmaker further announced his gubernatorial bid, saying he was sure of beating incumbent ODM's John Mruttu, in August 8, polls, on a Jubilee ticket.
