[Photo|Hassan Omar Hassan]Former Mombasa gubernatorial candidate and Senator Hassan Omar Hassan, has resigned from Kalonzo Musyoka's Wiper Democratic Movement (WDM-K), where he has been serving as the Secretary General.In a letter sent to the party leader, Musyoka dated September 6, Omar who lost to ODM's Hassan Ali Joho in the August 8 general election, cited several reasons for his resignation including furthering his studies, reorganising his political career and seeking justice in the gubernatorial race.Omar clearly indicated in the later that he would also not campaign for the National Super Alliance (Nasa) presidential candidate Raila Odinga in the fresj October 17 presidential elections for personal reasons, which he would one day, share."It is unlikely that I will play any part in your 17th October presidential quest, but nonetheless, I most sincerely wish you the very best,” he said in part, adding that he had already warned he would not want to serve in a Nasa government, in the event it forms Kenya's fifth government."You will indeed recall that way before the August 8 General Election I made it clear to you and the Rt Honourable Raila Odinga that I bear no desire to serve in your government in the event that you were elected and I was not elected governor of Mombasa for deep-rooted personal reasons that I will one day share," Omar who did not say he was opting out of the party, told his party leader.However, in quick response, WDM-K Executive Director Dr Jared Siso said the move would not create any leadership vacuum since there were two validly elected officials who deputised Omar.They include former WDM-K nominated Senator Judith Sijeny and former EALA MP Peter Mathuki.
