Raila Odinga’s allies have little faith in the country’s Supreme Court, new reports indicate.
Nation reports that a section of Mr Odinga’s camp was strongly opposed to judicial approach in seeking justice to what they believe to be their stolen victory.
There was a camp that stood for a legal protest and a second one for street action in form of mass protests.
Siaya Senator James Orengo and former Machakos Senator Johnstone Muthama are key lieutenants of the former prime minister said to have been agitators of mass protests.
On the other hand four NASA co-principals; Kalonzo Musyoka, Musalia Mudavadi, Isaac Ruto and Moses Wetangula are said to have been adamant on the Supreme Court approach.
Proponents of mass protests felt they were unfairly cornered in their 2013 presidential petition against Uhuru Kenyatta’s first win as head of state.
According to an insider who spoke to the local daily said the conviction that a presidential petition would serve them right grew after they encountered vivid mistakes in the tallying forms from IEBC.
They felt Jubilee government was out to frustrate bodies that were readying for a presidential petition.
Mr Odinga on Wednesday said: “By going to court we aren’t legitimising misplaced calls from some observers for us to concede but are seeking to give to those who braved the long lines in the morning chill and hot afternoon a chance to be heard.”
