Kenya National Union of Teachers boss Wilson Sossion opted to have his name removed from ODM nominated MP’s list due to ‘unavoidable’ circumstances.

Sossion’s name had been fronted by the opposition party and was set to get an automatic nomination to National Assembly.

But on Monday he is said to have asked ODM to expunge his name from the list because of his commitments with the union.

“I think it was necessary because he is set to fight for the interest of teachers and that cannot work if ODM is in opposition,” says Gideon Mamboleo.

He further says: “He would be an obstacle if Jubilee remains in power and that was a good move. It would also allow teachers to fight for their rights.”

Although President Uhuru Kenyatta was announced winner of recently conducted elections, he still has to fight in Supreme Court.

His removal would pave way for another candidate in the nomination list to be nominated by the orange party mainly from among the list that was submitted.
