Despite investing his resources in Gusii region, President Uhuru Kenyatta may score badly in August elections, says Gideon Mamboleo.
With 800, 000 votes at stake, Jubilee strategists had earmarked the region as a tossup, a claim which opposition NASA denies.
And Mamboleo says Uhuru’s trust on ‘unpopular’ leaders as his campaigners will ‘destroy’ his ambitions to capture the region which has traditionally voted opposition.
“Uhuru will lose because he is trusting unpopular candidates as his campaigners. This is detrimental because they are facing a lot of resistance.
“You have probably seen a number of them having their rallies disrupted. This will have a negative impact on presidential campaigns,” he said.
On Tuesday, a Jubilee caravan led by Senator Chris Obure was flushed out of Ogembo Township by suspected NASA supporters who accused them of doing ‘dirty’ campaigns.
While Obure is leading the campaigns, Odinga’s team is led by Kisii Governor James Ongwae and nominated Senator Janet Ong’era.
