It has now emerged that bad weather prevented President Uhuru Kenyatta from attending the funeral of son to Funyula MP Paul Otuoma last Saturday.
State House spokesman Manoah Esipisu said poor weather forced the president to cancel his planned tour of the western region and which was also to see him share a podium with Cord leader Raila Odinga at the the funeral of Malcolm Mwanga Otuoma.
However Raila too did not attend the burial.
"Due to poor weather conditions, the president could not make the trip. The president has spoken to the MP to express his condolences and to reassure him that his thoughts and prayers are with him and his family at this difficult time," Esipisu said.
Mwanga, who was a first year student at Jomo Kenyatta University of Science and Technology (JKUAT) died a fortnight ago while receiving treatment at the Nairobi hospital after reportedly developing breathing complications.
