President Uhuru Kenyatta's lawyer Fred Ngatia has dominated in the social media forums within Nyamira County with his decision to represent Walter Nyambati in an appeal challenging Governor John Nyagarama's victory sending shock waves.
The appeal that was launched in Kisumu would be determined in July 26th after all parties gave their final submission on Monday.
And a number of area residents believe that Ngatia's presence in the case could turn tables against Nyagarama who had survived in the High Court.
"Ngatia rarely loses battles and I sense some magic in the appeal. I only pity Nyagarama in this game," said Edward Omwanza on Facebook.
Another user Catherene Kemunto said: "Ngatia has only lost a few cases and he doesn't just accept to represent anyone in any case. It is a tough one and probably someone is going home."
Ballot paper stuffing dominated submissions with the petitioner contending that at least 36 polling stations with a total of 8,000 votes were affected.
In Kisumu, Ngatia accused High Court Judge James Makau of bias citing instances where he had admitted irregularities.
"You cannot admit irregularities and dismiss the entire case. The judge messed and the decision must be overturned," he said.
