President Uhuru Kenyatta has cautioned Kwale gubernatorial aspirant, Chirau Ali Mwakwere, against lying to the people, about land and mineral issues in the county.

He said, Mwakwere alias Zipapa, should be the last person to pretend that he cares about the interest of Kwale locals in regard to land and mineral issues.

Speaking at Lunga Lunga near the Kenya Tanzania border, Uhuru said it was Mwakwere who signed away the rights of the people when he was the Environment Minister, in the Grand Coalition government.

He asked him to respect himself and stop making unfounded claims about the Jubilee leadership.

“He has been going round and claiming that Salim Mvurya joined Jubilee to steal the resources of Kwale people,” said Uhuru.

Mvurya who was elected as Kwale governor on an ODM ticket, in 2013, defected to Jubilee Party, which he aims to use, to defend his seat

“Stop the propaganda because we can expose you easily since we have your records. Do not forget that we have all the records of all previous governments and we know what you are,” Uhuru added, Thursday.

Deputy President William Ruto, and Mvurya also attacked him, saying he was an ungrateful person.

Zipapa contested for the Kwale senatorial seat on a URP (which merged to form Jubilee) ticket in 2013, but lost.

He was later appointed as an Ambassador to Tanzania, before resigning, to join Opposition’s Wiper, which he using to vie.

Uhuru said it was Mwakwere and former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka who signed away mining rights without considering the welfare of the people of Kwale.
