Contract workers to be hired by Kenya Airways will now have to be subjected to a rigorous hiring process.Documents to be filled have now been given to workers for their consent to their backgrounds being dug by the national carrier. These forms will see KQ contact the landlords of their workers and also receive their credit history from firms with such information.Their social media accounts will also be probed for untoward posts. It does not stop there, the litigation and criminal history will also be blown to the surface.KQ boasts of a 1000-strong staff working on a contractual basis. The national carrier is expected to hire at least 300 new staff. The development comes in the wake of go-slows by some staff and financial woes.David Ouko, KQ's Career Directions chief executive, said that the move had nothing to do with the go-slows.''KQ at its own discretion will from time to time determine who and the number of staff the would like to employ. This is determined by our own strategy and not by the strike or any influence.'' Ouko said.
