Fear of unnecessary deaths of supporters, ruined legacy and lack of clear road map on what would follow after taking presidential oath guided Kalonzo Musyoka's decision to turn down the offer.
NASA had picked settled on Mombasa's Tononoka as venue for the much hyped inauguration ceremony of both Raila Odinga and Kalonzo Musyoka.
"We had settled on Tononoka only to be called for a meeting with our principals. They told us that they would make an announcement," said Oduor Ongwen.
But the former Vice President objected the move through his close confidant Farah Maalim on grounds that if would badly dent his international reputation.
Also opposing the move on similar grounds were Ida Odinga, Moses Wetangula and and Musalia Mudavadi.
"Kalonzo was much concerned about his legacy, planned execution of supporters by police and lack of clear road map on what next after the event," a source told the Star.
Further, senior legal adviser James Orengo is said to have gone blank when asked to give clear direction on the matter.
