Revellers in Kikuyu Town will be forced to be on high alert following increased cases of drugging in clubs and social places.
Such cases have reportedly been perpetrated in various drinking joints around the town and the victims robbed of their valuables.
William Njuguna, a victim who fell prey of this crime on Saturday in one of the famous joint in the town that attracts revelers to capacity, shared the encounter on that fateful Saturday evening.
“I was with my buddy taking one for the road when a young lady, in her mid-twenties walked towards the table where we were seated. She sat next to me, and out of generosity, I ordered a drink for her. My buddy left the table to give us some space,” said Njuguna.
He added, “A while later I walked to the washrooms. Upon returning, I sipped my drink twice or thrice and when I woke up, I realised everything was gone including my phone and wallet. The lady was gone too.”
Njuguna said he realised later that the lady had spiked his drink with a substance they use that renders the prey unconscious then they steal everything.
In such cases, Rohypnol commonly known as mchele, is added to drinks and the victims lose consciousness for several hours. The drug is used in operation theatres to induce deep sleep.
Use of several cases of chloroform in spray form used to render the victims unconscious have also been on the rise.
Such incidents, which mostly are perpetrated by twilight girls, have also been reported in Nairobi, Nakuru and now have spilled over to smaller towns like Kikuyu.
Revellers have to be vigilant to avoid being robbed ‘willingly’.
