Nakuru residents are now appealing to matatu operators to reduce bus fare with fuel price reduction.
Residents said that despite huge downfall of fuel prices it has not translated to bus fares in the county.
Speaking in a vox pop interview to this writer most residents said that for the last three years bus fares in most stages has remained constant.
Mary Waiyego a businesswoman in Nakuru said that not even drop of fuel prices has affected her bus fare.
“I pay Sh40 to travel from town to Shaba, which is too expensive, hence I opt treking in the evening,” said Waiyego.
She added that it is unfair for the matatu operators to continue overcharging, yet fuel prices has dropped.
Samuel Mwangi Pipeline resident said that the travellers should too feel the effect of fuel reduction.
“They should also streamline the effects of low fuel price to us through reducing bus fares just as they do when they hike it. We are therefore appealing to matatu owners to consider reducing bus fares for us to enjoy,” notes Mwangi.

Amos Gathiru a matatu operator claimed that the determining of bus fare was not in their power.
“There needs to be several sittings before we adjusting bus fares but there is some plans to review it,” promised Gathiru.
