Kisii County Education Board (KCEB) chairman Henry Onderi has urged the Board of Managements (BoM) in schools to understand their mandate.
Speaking at Kiobegi in Bobasi constituency during education day the chairman said that most of the BoMs in schools have not understood their mandate as he urged them to revise the education act which will help them to understand their roles well.
Onderi said that the mandate of the BoMs in schools is to make sure that the infrastructure is well structured and conducive for the students.
"The work of the BOM should be monitoring the infrastructure in our schools rather than engaging in kicking out teachers," said Onderi.
The other work according to the chairman is to make sure that the subordinate staff in the school attains the required requirements which cannot interfere with the school activities.
“We don’t want to be having wrangles between the teachers and the BoMs," said Onderi.
“We are sure that if the BoMs understand their mandate we will not have this wrangles hence we urge them to go and revise the education act which will help them to understand their role said,”added Onderi.
