Christians from the Kalenjin community across the country will now have access to a Bible written in their native language after the Bible Society of Kenya (BSK) launched the revised Kalenjin Bible.
According to Thomas Tharau, an official at BSK, it took them ten years to come up with the Bible.Speaking at the 64 Stadium in Eldoret town during the launch of the Bible, Tharau said all the Kalenjin subtribes will be able to understand the Bible.
"The Bible had been translated to Kalenjin language long time ago but there were complaints that some words could not be understood and this prompted us to begin a project to revise it so that all Kalenjn subtribes can use it," noted Tharau.
"What we are launching today is a bible written in a way that people from Nandi, Marakwet, Keiyo, Tugen, Kipsigi and any other Kalenjin tribes can understand very well," he added.
The Bible Society of Kenya official further revealed that they are working towards ensuring the Bible is translated into all the 53 languages in the country.
"We've already translated 27 languages and we are on course to having the Bible in each and every language spoken in this country," he said.
