The Education Ministry has been urged to revoke delocalization of aged teachers in the country.
Speaking in his office on Monday, Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) Secretary General, Kangundo Branch Daniel Nginga said most of the teachers being transferred are aged and almost retiring.
Nginga urged the ministry to reconsider its decision and transfer only recently employed teachers.
"You find teachers who have two or fewer years to retire are being transferred. These teachers are contemplating on resigning due to this, the government should revoke the transfer of such teachers," Nginga said.
He said the government has failed in conducting uniform transfers stating that a lot of teachers have received their transfer letters, yet the stations they have been posted to arent vacated yet.
"The headteachers are moving to the areas they have been sent to only to find that the sitting headteacher hasn't received his letter thus causing confusion on who is supposed to lead the school," Nginga added.
He condemned the delocalisation saying that it's uncalled for and wasn't planned accordingly before being enacted.
"Apart from wrecking families, the delocalization has caused stress to our teachers who have been sent to unfavorable conditions. The government should reconsider it's decision since it's uncalled for," Nginga concluded.
