Following a spate of insecurity that rocked parts of Rhonda estate over a week ago, a section of residents have now called on the national and county governments to set up a police post in the area.

The residents admitted Monday that much as police patrols had helped contain the situation, a more permanent solution in the form of a police post should be ensured.

"It is only a police post that will address the rampant security lapses here. Otherwise police patrols are not that effective," Kamau Kuria said.

His sentiments were echoed by Joshua Makokha who added that the nearest police post was several miles away, making surveillance by the police difficult.

"It is very hard to contain crime here because the nearest police post is too far.If we can have our own then crime incidences will greatly reduce," he added. Rhonda was recently gripped by a wave of lawlessness as rival gangs sought out each other.
