Residents of Riamanoti spent most their time on Wednesday trying to identify the origin of a boy, who was found in the area through anonymous circumstances and he would not understand either of the national languages or the area predominant Kisii dialect.

The residents asked the State to take the child for good custody till his identify is revealed by relevant authorities since he was shy and declined to accept those who were willing to take him to their homes.

According to Elvis Ondieki the area resident, the child is said to have made the entrance to the region from Nyansiongo township where he was allegedly seen roaming a few days ago. He said the boy spoke a dialect believed to be Kuria due to its similarity to Ekegusii.

“This child was found in a house that the owner rarely uses. He cannot speak any national languages or the local dialect. Our in depth investigations shows that he can speak a language which I believe is Kuria but subject to confirmation and I am told he was seen at Nyansiongo recently,” said Ondieki.

They also insisted that there was need for the government to do a thorough search to identify people who cannot speak languages widely spoken in Kenya following the persistent insecurity in the country.
