A section of Riamoni sub-location residents in Kitutu Masaba have called for the immediate sacking of area assistant chief for allegedly using excessive force to solve issues.
Speaking to this writer on Saturday, they accused Bosire Sambu of taking the law into his own hands to cane residents without giving them a fair hearing or subjecting them to the court processes as required by the law.
According to the residents, at least ten people, mostly youths have been Sambu’s victims, with the accused said to be targeting them early in the morning or late at night.
“I have never come across a clause that mandates chiefs and their assistants to beat people. This is illegal and unconstitutional. Sambu should be relived off his duties and this is the right time for the government to take an action. We are tired with his methodologies of solving issues,” said Enock Onyamo, one of the residents.
They threatened to lead demonstrations to compel the government to take action against the accused in a week’s time.
“We will not relent before action is taken in a week’s time. The government should avoid this by sacking him with immediate effect,” added Alex Oiko.
Sambu denied the claims vehemently, but insisted that he would deal decisively with youths who were engaging in criminal activities.
“They are trying to hide but the law will follow them. I will deal with them no matter the complaints because we want a peaceful village,” he said.
