The rampant land disagreements in Riamoni sub-location in Kitutu Masaba constituency will be a thing of the past after area assistant chief constituted a committee that will be responsible for investigations and determinations of various land cases.

This comes amid a public outcry from locals who raised issues about being unable to cater for court expenses when handling land-related cases.

But on Saturday, chief Sambu Bosire unveiled a committee of six people selected from the three clans in the region who will be working under two volunteer experts and an elder.

“We have been having several land cases in my office and some of them are too sensitive and hence need serious individuals to solve them. The committee will start working with immediate effect and they will report to my office some of the determinations,” he said.

He urged residents to embrace them and closely work with them since the six were voted and their competence ascertained besides asking intriguing individuals to cater for sitting allowances.

“I call upon residents to respect these people since they are ready to work with us. I think they are ready for the job and that is why I insist that respect is very important. The sitting allowances will be catered for by the disputing parties and we agreed Sh2,000 as the figure,” he said.

The message was received by area residents who lauded the chief for ‘historic’ decision of ‘reducing’ court expenses.
