Boda boda riders operating in Nyamira county have been blamed for the increased cases of prostitution in the region.
According to Nyamira boda boda riders' association official identified as Bernard, most riders operating at night have been sleeping with young girls instead of concentrating on their work.
Bernard said that the riders are risking their health because they are carelessly sleeping with women without protection.
"Riders are at risk of contradicting sexually transmitted diseases if they don't go slow on sleeping with women in town. It is unfortunate that Nyamira girls have dropped school to engage in the commercial sex business to earn a living at a tender age," he said.
He called on leaders from the region to intervene before the region becomes a grave yard.
"Our leaders should not keep quiet because prostitution is taking control of our young girls who have dropped school.
"Politicians, parents and members of the clergy should wake up and ensure prostitution comes to an end in Nyamira county or we be ready to bury the young people in the next 5 years," he added.
The official regretted that even riders who are married are also engaging in sex outside marriage.
