Boda boda riders operating in Bomariba ward Kisii South Sub County have accused area officials of harassing them.
The riders led by Polycarp Onderi accused Igonga boda boda chairman Peter Nyamwesi and the stage secretary Paul Nyakang’i for the illegal arresting of motorbikes on claims that the riders don’t meet the required standards to operate.
"The people we gave the mandate to represent us have now turned against us and they are soliciting funds from us. We want the Ethics and corruption commission to investigate them," said Onderi.
Another boda boda rider only identified as Onchari threatened that the officials will be attacked if they don’t change their bad ways of earning income.
“We have agreed to cane the officials if they don’t change their silly ways of getting money. No rider will be giving bribe to the officials who are lazy and not ready to work and earn cash legaly,” he said.
However, reached for a comment, Nyakang’i denied the claims saying riders who are being chased away from the stage are those who have not registered at the stage as required.
He called on riders with evidence on the bribery allegations to report to the authorities for the legal actions to be taken against any official.
