Bodaboda riders without permits and protective gears will be fined for operating illegally, Kisii County deputy commissioner Peter Mbugi has said.
According to Mbugi, boda-boda riders should have a valid license, helmet, and gloves.
Mbugi on Friday said police will launch a crackdown to arrest riders who don’t meet the road requirements.
“We can’t allow riders to operate illegally. Any rider found violating road rules will be fined on spot and his motorcycle will be kept until such riders agree to follow the set laws,” he said.
The commissioner warned youths against dropping schools to join bodaboda business.
“Youths should first complete school before they venture into bodaboda business after undergoing training at a recognized driving institution. Parents should also ensure their children complete school before joining boda-boda,” he said.
