Kiambu County governor William Kabogo and Thika MP Alice Ng’ang’a were held in a climate of renewing their rift when they met at an event graced by the Deputy President William Ruto.
The followers of the two leaders on Monday met at an M-pesa foundation academy ground breaking ceremony in Thika which is the area of jurisdiction for the iron lady Alice Ng’ang’a.
The supporters who broke into hullaballoo when their rival leader took to the stand to address the crowd, was however calmed by DP Ruto’s call to unite, work with their leaders and shun divisions between them.
Governor Kabogo pledged to revise tax levies downwards, a move which has been long due and which has been the cause of brouhaha among the business communities in the county.
Governor Kabogo also said that he is ready to move the county Headquarters to Kiambu town, which he said will take place soon.
MP Ng’ang’a has been at the centre of criticism geared towards coercing Governor Kabogo to reduce the tax rates that have in the past sparked public uproar and protests.
Rift between the two sides was even more apparent when the MP was denied a chance to address her constituents due to the brawl that would ensue between the two sides.
Among the issues that have created the gulf between Kabogo and a section of MPs from the area include relocation of county Headquarters to Kiambu town, high tax rates among other issues according to those MPs.
