A section of Jubilee aspirants who lost in the recently concluded party nominations have decided to defy DP William Ruto over independent candidates.
The aspirants from Ruto's home constituency of Turbo have said they will not heed his plea to back Kevin Okwara and have resolved to support the independent candidate Janet Sitienei Rotich.
During the primaries, Okwara beat other Jubilee hopefuls including the incumbent MP Elisha Busienei to win the coveted ticket.
Some fourteen aspirants however came together on Saturday and made what they called "the Turbo declaration", where the losers vowed to rally behind Rotich.
Through their leader Julius Kitur, the group declared that Turbo constituency has it's "owners".
"Uhuru, Ruto and Governor Jackson Mandago have their votes safe but as concerns MP we will back Rotich," Kitur said.
