Speaking in Kisumu on Thursday after a consultative meeting with Luo elders, the Rift Valley elders led by Kipsigis Council of Elders secretary Edwin Kimetto confirmed the decision, saying it was influenced by Raila's relentless support to the protection of the Mau water tower.

According to the Nation, Kimetto further revealed that they will hold a series of rallies next year in Kericho County to drum up support for the ODM party leader.

“We have already planned the inaugural rally at Sosiot in Kericho County on January 7, and invited Raila Odinga and other leaders including governors,” he said.

Other elders who attended the meeting were from Kisumu, Siaya, Migori, Homa Bay, Kisii, Nyamira, Kericho, Bomet, Nandi, and Narok counties.
