Latest Statistics by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) indicates that the Rift Valley region registered more new voters, compared to other regions.
According to the results released by chairperson Wafula Chebukati, Monday, 3,782,089 new electorates were registered across the 47 counties in the just concluded mass voter registration.
Of the 3,782,089 new voters, Rift Valley produced 882,626 applicants followed by Eastern- 594,527 voters, Central- 510,902 new electorates, and Nairobi-461,346.
Other regions were Nyanza- 449,740 new voters, Coast- 404,828, Western-303,711, while North Eastern managed to list 110,698 new voters.
Chebukati however noted the statistics released February 21, in Nairobi, were not the final number of registered voters ahead of the upcoming August 8, election.
“It is important to note that these are not the final figures,” he clarified.
According to IEBC, voters listed in the register are 19.6 million, pending auditing of the register.
