The KNH boss was sent to a compulsory leave by Health CS Sicily Kariuki over a series of clandestine scandals in East Africa's largest health facility.

"Having keenly observed what has been going on at KNH, I hereby send CEO on a compulsory leave," she said.

Among the scandals that have rocked KNH include operation of a wrong patient, theft of infants and unconfirmed rape claims.

Led by Kericho Senator Aaron Cheruiyot, the leaders demanded immediate reinstatement of the embattled CEO.

"We read malice in the action and Kariuki should come out and tell us her interest. There was no investigations done yet they have sent her home. She must be reinstated," Cheruiyot said.

The leaders were meeting on a Nairobi Hotel to discuss stormy Rift Valley politics that includes nullification of victory for two rebel MPs.

But Mosop's Vincent Tuwei was more point blank saying the CEO was 'target to cartels from the state'.
