The government has warned politicians against issuing hate speech and inciting the public.

Rift Valley Regional Commissioner Wanyama Musiambo issued the warning, saying anybody found engaging in hate speech and incitement will face the full force of the law.

Speaking to the press in Eldoret, Wednesday, Musiambo said the government had agents across the region with gadgets to monitor hate speech.

He insisted that the government would not tolerate hatemongers.

"This country is where it is because of the rule of law and anybody used to issuing hate speech for political gains will not be allowed," said Musiambo.

"We are taping each speeches made at political rallies and nobody will utter hate speech or incitement and walk away with it," he added.

The Rift Valley Regional Commissioner however said they were working towards holding periodical meetings with aspirants eyeing various elective positions to reiterate the need to preach peace and unity even as they seek for votes.
